Thursday: Complete the Essential Questions assignment in Schoology by the next school day.
Friday: Formed writing groups. Shared Essential Questions answers w/ groups. Then, discussed as a class.
Monday, 8/19: Turn the essential questions answers into paragraphs a.ka. draft an essay inspired by these questions. Your target audience is a prospective future school or scholarship committee. Focus on your positive attributes and bigger goals. You can use contractions and slang in quotation marks. Double-spaced, use a boring 12 pt. font. Due next school day at the start of class. Give it a good title; put your name and hour on it. It's not going to be graded for style, organization, focus or conventions.
Tuesday: In groups, peer edit the essay.
Wednesday: Continue peer editing and redrafting.
Thursday: Publish personal vision statement.
Friday-Thursday (8/29): students complete sharing their essays.
Friday, (8/30); switch unit to Native Americans.
