Games We Play

You think you know sports? What makes a sport a sport? What makes a sport great? Which sports are greatest? Can a sport be mixed with religion?

December , students will prepare for their "Sport of Choice" group presentations daily. Presentations begin May 1. Students will be placed in groups; any student who misses preparation without communication, will give the presentation solo.

Following the presentations...

All classes, the remainder of the year is spent preparing for the final exam.

There are 2 parts to your final exam, which is worth 1/9 of your grade.

Part I, write two formal, expository essays. Your essays should be 1-2 pages each, and each must answer one of the following questions in regard to this class. Your essays will receive composite grades for organization, focus, support, conventions and integration. This is not the time for negativity or constructive criticism. Submit them on schoology. You may combine questions.

What is the most important thing you learned?

Which unit was the best?

Which sport in the Games We Play Unit was greatest?

Which of your classmates was most impressive?

Which skill did you most develop?

Which was the best piece of literature we read all semester?

Part II, present and discuss your writing with the class. You will bring your essay to the final; then you will do a fishbowl in which you are graded individually for skill, energy, preparation, and improvement.

Fishbowls begin during the "study session" of each final.

1/2 of your final grade is based on your writing; the other half is based on your fishbowl performance.
