Extra credit assignment: go to Cahokia Mounds. You can earn 10 points if you climb Monk's Mound; you can earn 15 if you visit the museum. You must send me a photo of yourself to earn the credit.
Friday, 8/30: Native American Week Pretest.
Tuesday, 9/4: Discussed the pretest. Then, began or continued watching 500 Nations: Assigned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPUTLHWVY34&t=741s. Students must write down 10 facts from the film and submit on schoology.
Wednesday: added 10 more notes to the list of things learned from the film.
Thursday: Brief discussion of film. Went over class policies.
Assigned questions on Native American Poetry, due Monday. Questions on schoology.
Friday: Completed working on poems.
Monday, 9/9: One day, formal graded discussion on the NA poetry. Students should have points at the end of the conversation. Students who are absent must submit a formal paragraph answering one of the questions we discussed. The paragraph should be submitted on schoology.
Tuesday: Students complete the GD on NA poetry. Students who were absent both or either days, should write a formal paragraph answering one of the questions we discussed and submit that on schoology. Then, assigned the ""The World on the Turtle's Back"--reading and questions on schoology.
Wednesday: Assigned questions on "The Iroquois Constitution." There's a link at the top of this page to that. The questions are on schoology.
Thursday: Graded discussion on "The World on a Turtle's Back" and the Iroquois Constitution. Students who are absent must submit on schoology a formal paragraph answering one of the questions we discussed.
Friday: Illustrate a scene(s) from any of the Native American literature we have read. The drawing MUST include the title of the work, the name of the people who wrote it, and a quote from the text. Due Monday; extra credit for the best. Bring Your Own Crayons; I have paper. You may do CAD, but you must print out.
