Welcome back.
It has been several strange and very hard months, and these trying times are likely far from over. For the past few months, tennis in particular--and sports in general--have taken a necessary backseat to the far more important work of healthcare, community support, and education.
Yet part of this pandemic's pain has been the small things in life it's taken from us, and the boys season being cancelled was no exception. It's been such a joy the last few weeks to see the kids' faces again, even if spread out and socially distanced.
To that end, it's exciting to say that competitive tennis has started again this summer, with six JTT teams being fielded, and a multitude of Edwardsville players competing in St. Louis tournaments. In JTT, teams are in the 10u, 12u, 14u, 2 18u teams, and HS girls divisions.
Jesse Hattrup has been the star so far this summer, going undefeated en route to winning the year's first three tournaments in the Boys' 14 division, including a Level 5 this past weekend. In June, he defeated fellow Edwardsville player Jade Dynamic in the Level 6 finals (pictured, Jesse on left, Jade on right).
In Boys' 16 play, Colton Hulme has had a great start to his summer: the incoming freshman has played two tournaments, and won the backdrop at this past weekend's Level 5.
On the boys' side, Michael Karibian, Jacob Summers, Joe Cass, and Schaefer Bates have also played tournaments, while Morgan Marshall and Katie Woods have played for the girls.
We've also began a Middle School Match Play night, featuring singles and doubles among our in-house middle school players: 21 kids competed last week, with more slated for this next.
