Coach Communication: The winner of each match is responsible for texting the team score immediately at the conclusion of the match to the Tournament Director. If a team is missing from your site, please contact the absent coach directly (Coach Contact List) to resolve the issue. If your next match is a TBA, please communicate with the other coaches against whom you will possibly play to agree on the variables and the plan. When in doubt, contact the home coaches in each situation.

Format: Head to head dual matches, 6 singles and 3 doubles. Teams may change their lineups match to match. No stacking. Add scoring, 10 pt. tiebreaker in place of a third set for the singles; doubles will be an 8-game pro-set, add scoring, 12-point tiebreaker (first to 7) at 8-all. Teams will play the singles first, except when indicated.

Draws Posted: Friday's matches will be posted March 24. Saturday's times and locations will not be posted until ALL MATCHES ARE CONCLUDED AND REPORTED ON FRIDAY EVENING. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR ASKING FOR SATURDAY LOCATION. WHEN THEY ARE AVAILABLE, THEY WILL BE POSTED. Saturday matches begin at 8:30.

Times: Each team plays one match on Friday and 2 on Saturday (unless a draw has fewer than 8). Friday’s matches begin (first point) at 1:00 or 3:00 p.m.; Saturday’s begin (first point) at 8:30 a.m. at the latest. Please do not begin after 8:30 including introductions and warm up w/ opponents.

Sites:  Please click here for site addresses.

Miscellaneous: Travel between sites will be kept to a minimum. Warm up times should be no longer than 10 minutes. Each team provides half the balls for each match, which they then keep. All teams are expected to complete the tournament. Teams are required to eat on-site; if you are playing back to back, you will not have time to go “out” for lunch—send someone to pick up food or bring a cooler.

When to stop play after a clinch: Once a team has clinched by winning 5 points, there are times when it is appropriate to compete all matches (preferable), but there are other times in which the match should conclude. If the next round is to begin within a half-hour, and if the match is clinched, then discontinue play. However, if there is not another round for either team that day, or if there is more than a half-hour before the next match begins, then teams are encouraged to continue to play. This will be more of an issue with teams playing round-robins on Friday, especially at locations without lights, as they have to play 3 rounds.

When to play singles first and when to play doubles first: For certain sites, teams will play doubles first. If that is the case, once the doubles ends, begin putting singles matches on as match ups are available. Please do not wait to begin all doubles matches at once. If more than one combination is available to put on, but if courts are limited, put the higher numbers on first. In other words, put 1 singles on before 2 singles.

Entry Fee: $80 per team. Please email Stacey Schulte (sschulte@ecusd7.org) to pay and receive your official contract.

Coaching: coaches may coach between points without interrupting the pace of play--college style.

Rain Planning: If rain is likely for Friday and Saturday, then the tournament will be cancelled late Thursday evening. If play is cancelled on Friday due to rain, then 12 groups of 4 will be planned.

Seeding Information: Coaches may (not mandatory) send in seeding information by March 20.

Questions/Concerns: If you have any questions, or if you do not plan to attend, please email me dlipe@ecusd7.orgAlso, please contact me if your contact information has changed.
