It's been a busy few weeks for the Edwardsville tennis program, so let's dive right in!
The girls season officially wrapped up with the team banquet at the Jon Davis Wrestling Center. Chloe Koons, Chloe Trimpe, and Hannah Colbert were all named 1st-team All-Conference, with Chloe Koons recognized as Newcomer of the Year. Grace Hackett, Emma Herman, and Hayley Earnhart were 2nd-team All-Conference, with Grace named the SWC's Most Improved Player.
Also on the awards front, Kirk and Emily trekked over to Forest Park's Probstein Golf Center for the USTA St. Louis District Awards. The Intelligencer's Scott Marion won Media of the Year for the second year running thanks to his fantastic tennis coverage. Kirk and Emily were named JTT Coordinators of the Year, and Edwardsville High School was recognized as Member Organization of the Year. It was a great night, and our deep thanks go to the Missouri Valley Section and the St. Louis District for the recognition.
On the tournament front, the last three weekends have seen big success from our Edwardsville players. Chloe Koons won the Girls 14's District Championship while unseeded, dethroning both the no. 1 and 2 seeds on her way to the title. This past weekend Chloe placed 2nd at the 14's District Doubles Championship.
By winning the Futures Qualifier this month, Colton Hulme qualifies for the Boys' 14 Futures in Kansas City in December. He defeated fellow ETA player Jade Dynamic in the finals. The two teamed up the following weekend to win the Boys 14 District Doubles Championship with ease. Congratulations Colton and Jade!
Dia Kannan continues to rock and roll in green ball play, sweeping her flight to win the Creve Coeur Smashers. The win is Dia's 10th title in 2019, and her fourth in green ball play.
