Quarantine Assignments

Ok, kids. While it feels like your senior year is slipping away and school is over, it's not. YOU HAVE TO STAY "ENGAGED" WITH YOUR SCHOOL WORK. Now, here are your lesson plans for the remainder of April starting on April 13. As you know, you're on spring break through April 12.

Assignment #1. Read a short story and write a letter to me about the work. Email that letter to me at dlipe@ecusd7.org. Include the genre, title and author, the setting, the conflict, the climax, the main theme and anything else you found interesting or noteworthy about the work. If you want a great site for short stories, click here. No, you don't have to choose your story from this site, but it's a good resource. Remember to set your letter up in block form and be mindful of your words and grammar. Also, keep working on your Word Bank! New RULE: it should be a story you haven't read before, and written on at least an adolescent level. Little kid stories don't count.

Assignment #2. Write a letter to the class. In this letter include what you're doing during this unprecedented time including what you read for this class. I will forward your letter to everyone in the class.

Assignment #3. Write a response to the letters written by everyone else. After you've had a chance to read what your peers have written, respond to them!

Ok, well, that's it for now. I'll either see you in May, or I'll post additional assignments here. Remember, STAY ENGAGED WITH OUR CLASS OR I AM OBLIGATED TO GIVE YOU AN "INCOMPLETE!"

Remember to email assignments 1-2 to Mr. Lipe by 5:00 p.m. April 30. After that, I'll forward everyone's letter, and then you can do #3 by 8:30 a.m. on 4/4.
